Background

Co-founded in 2009 by KIPP pioneer Scott W. Hamilton and Teach for America alumna Stephanie Saroki de García, Seton Education Partners expands opportunities for parents in underserved communities to choose an academically excellent, character-rich, and—for those who seek it—vibrantly Catholic education for their children. As a national non-profit, Seton partners with (arch)dioceses and others across the country to implement innovative and sustainable new schooling models that bridge the best of Catholic education’s rich tradition with new possibilities. The challenges are significant but surmountable with collaboration from a mission-driven, high-performing, entrepreneurial team that embraces innovation and is motivated to reach thousands of children in America’s most underserved neighborhoods. About Seton Teaching Fellows

Seton Teaching Fellows accompanies, develops, and challenges young Catholics to serve students, families, and each other by imitating the love of Christ the Teacher in underserved communities and beyond.

Seton Teaching Fellows is a one or two-year postgraduate mission opportunity that brings the living Gospel and the beauty of the Catholic faith to children and families in underserved communities. Fellows rely on both time-tested and innovative methods that help the children and families they serve, as well as their peers, to better know, love, and serve Christ and His Church. At the same time, they participate in their own spiritual formation by developing the habits, dispositions, and beliefs indispensable to human flourishing and happiness.

Three pillars drive the program: Faith, Education and Community

Faith: Fellows grow spiritually in their faith through weekly formation, prayer and reflection, retreats, and the Sacraments. In turn, they catechize children in the Catholic faith and prepare them for their Sacraments.

Education: Fellows learn how to become strong educators in a supportive learning community at a Seton network school. Fellows receive continuous professional development in how to be an outstanding teacher.

Community: Fellows live in the neighborhood of their placement school, alongside the children and families they serve. Grounded in an intentional, faith-based community of mission-driven peers, Fellows learn how to live for the other. Housing and a modest stipend are provided.

Qualifications and Desired Characteristics

  • Candidates for the position must possess the following personal characteristics:
  • You have unquestioned integrity and commitment to Seton’s mission and values.
  • You take personal responsibility.
  • You have a strong belief that all children can achieve both moral and academic excellence.
  • You have a relentless drive for excellence.
  • You have grit, perseverance and can adapt and be flexible when challenges arise.
  • You have an unwavering determination to be better today than you were yesterday.

About the job of Recruitment Associate (RA)

Seton Education Partners believes that education starts with an appreciation of the inherent dignity of every child, and that the best education is holistic, with a balanced focus on mind, body, and soul. Our programs and schools have developed strong, team-oriented cultures.  As an RA on the Seton Teaching Fellows’ talent team, you're charged with finding strong, mission-aligned candidates who bring a passion and commitment to our mission, as well as the students, families, and communities that we serve.

Specifically, Seton Teaching Fellows’ vision statement will animate the cadence of your work: Loving and evangelizing each person before us, with the heart, mind, and spirit of Christ the Teacher.

You will be responsible for ‘Sourcing’ (identifying and tracking) diverse and competitive individuals who are attracted to this vision by conducting research, using resources, technology platforms, and professional networks.

You will support and collaborate with our Talent Team to devise and execute strategies to engage potential applicants, generating applications to our organization through a variety of channels, including planning events, partnering with organizations, and creating targeted marketing campaigns. After the initial application process, you will be responsible for coordinating final interviews and supporting the cultivation and pre-onboarding of accepted Seton Teaching Fellows until their official onboarding in their placement site begins.

You will work closely with the entire team, including the Chief of Seton Teaching Fellows, National Director of Formation and Community, and Regional Managers for STFs in Seton’s schools across the country as well as school and program leaders at Seton Teaching Fellows’ placement sites.

We are trusted advisors to Seton Education Partners and school/program leaders, providing advice about the external talent market and how it compares to the talented team we already have in the organization. With a perspective on the external talent landscape and deep insights into school and program priorities, you will develop search strategies and lead engagements to position us for success today and well into the future. You have the drive, motivation and passion to scout the talent landscape and deliver a top-quality candidate experience. Most importantly, you will have the intellectual curiosity, problem-solving capability, and drive to be an integral member of our team.

The ideal candidate will bring experience and skills in the following areas:

  • Has earned a bachelor’s degree (required);
  • Has at least one year of teaching in a school serving predominantly low-income children with demonstrated exemplary student achievement results;
  • Has a strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to work;
  • Demonstrates extremely strong organizational skills, including detail-orientation, and is able to organize, prioritize, track, and manage workflow/resources;
  • Has the ability to strategically manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment;
  • Strategically thinks, plans, and problem-solves. Can analyze multiple pieces of data and draw strong conclusions to impact strategy;
  • Communicates clearly and compellingly to influence action in others, both internally and externally, verbally and in writing;
  • Learns, improves, adapts, and shifts seamlessly to evolving team needs and opportunities.
