About the Position
The Financial Operations Associate will play a critical role in overseeing and optimizing key financial systems and processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and strong user support. This role supports both Seton Education Partners and Brillante Academy in Mission, TX, focusing on procurement, financial system maintenance, and cross-functional team support. This is a new role, created to own the daily financial operations so the Deputy CFO can focus on higher-level strategy cross-regional priorities. Reporting to the Deputy CFO of Brillante Academy, the Financial Operations Associate will be integral to streamlining financial operations, maintaining systems, and enabling team success. This role is a great opportunity for an early-career finance professional to gain hands-on experience in school finance and grow into a leadership position.
Main Responsibilities
Brillante Finances
- Support the campus operations manager in the purchasing process, ensuring adequate compliance with local, state, and federal purchasing guidelines while identifying ways to improve efficiency and cost savings
- Manage, in collaboration with our outsourced accounting provider, the accounts payable process, ensuring adequate documentation and information to make purchases
- Assist in building, tracking, and analyzing budgets, ensuring financial forecasts align with actuals and organizational goals.
- Forecast expected state revenue based on enrollment and attendance data
- Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies, accounting principles, and relevant state/federal regulations
- Collaborate with school leadership in the use of local, state, and federal grant funding, to ensure compliance in the use of funding
- Working with the PEIMS manager and outsourced accounting provider, review data reports to TEA and other entities related to financial operations before submission
- Ensure payroll accuracy by reviewing leave records and payroll changes as well as coordinating with the Director of Texas Talent to resolve discrepancies.

Seton Finances
- Support the Estrellita team in proper financial management of Seton's childcare and after-school program, through budget management and ensuring compliance with Seton's financial policies
- Maintain revenue forecasts based on paid tuition and state subsidy payments

Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of general accounting principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail
Preferred Skills/Abilities
- 2+ Years experience at a school system or nonprofit organization
- Knowledge of Texas charter school funding structures
- Understanding of Texas Workforce Commission childcare subsidies
- Familiarity with Google platforms and Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus but not essential
Education and Experience
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Work Location
While Seton is committed to hiring in the communities in which our schools operate, it will consider applicants on a "remote first" basis as well as candidates in another city in which Seton operates. Seton currently has offices in Cincinnati, Ohio; New York, New York; Mission, Texas; and South Bend, Indiana.
If a candidate wishes to be considered as a "remote first" candidate, prior experience working in a remote environment is required, and at least one reference must be able to speak to the candidate's ability to work remotely.
Please note: as the role may be remote, we are not able to offer relocation reimbursement/bonuses at this time.
Travel Expectations
Approximately 10%. Seton expects all employees to travel at least once a year for its annual all-team gathering. Additionally, employees who work in a different office from the Brillante campus or are "remote first" will be expected to travel approximately monthly to directly support work in the schools.
